Ramsbottom Man Kris Finney, Missing for Three Days in Tenerife

After three days of worry and uncertainty, the family of Kris Finney, a 31-year-old electrician from Ramsbottom, near Bury, received the news they had been hoping for—he’s been found safe in Tenerife. Kris, who had flown to the popular Canary Island on Thursday morning, October 31, initially kept in touch with his family, confirming his arrival. However, after that call, he failed to meet a friend on the island or respond to family attempts to reach him, sparking concerns about his well-being.

The Disappearance

Kris, who works across Lancashire and Manchester, had planned to meet up with a friend staying at a different hotel in Tenerife. Yet, when he didn’t show up or answer calls and messages, his family grew increasingly anxious. His aunt, Debbie Kenyon, expressed her concern, explaining, “He may sometimes not contact you for 12 to 18 hours but then he always reaches out. There was nothing we could do at that time of night.”

After days of no contact, the British Consulate became involved, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed they were aware of his disappearance. The British Consulate worked with local authorities, reportedly contacting hospitals across Tenerife in their search efforts.

Found Safe

In a fortunate turn of events, a woman on the island came across Kris and kindly offered him her phone to call his family. She brought him to her shop, and Kris was able to reach out to his mother, bringing relief to his family and friends back in the UK.

Family Relief and FCDO Support

Kris’s family was relieved and thankful to hear his voice after days of silence. His aunt Debbie, who had previously appealed for information about his whereabouts, confirmed the update. While the circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear, his family is grateful for the support and assistance they received. An FCDO spokesperson commented, “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”

For now, Kris’s family is just thankful he’s safe, following an ordeal that highlights the importance of community, consular support, and the kindness of strangers in times of need.
