October 12, 2024 — Fighting escalates all along the Russia-Ukraine conflict lines, now day 960, with significant developments on both sides:
Eastern Ukraine Campaign: Heavy fighting engulfed parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as Ukrainian forces continue to push to reclaim lost territories from the Russian army.
Drone and Missile Strikings: Besides missile strikes, Ukraine also conducted several drone attacks on military infrastructure in Russia, targeting some places in Crimea as well. Russia responded with a few rounds of missile hits to several cities in Ukraine including Kyiv.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens: Per reports coming from the UN, people, including civilians, are increasingly becoming victims of this growing conflict while many regions are literally critically short of food, drinking water, and medical supplies.
Diplomatic Stalemate: Efforts at diplomatic intermediation have remained stuck as no noticeable progress was made in negotiations over a ceasefire, an international attempt to revive talks.
Russia Soldier Losses: Ukrainian authorities remain adamant about the heavy losses of Russian forces in the eastern fronts, but Moscow remains adamant about “having not reported the real number of its casualties”.
As this global conflict continues, tension does not seem to ease on either side as the international community becomes increasingly concerned about the humanitarian and geopolitical effect of such a long war.
