Nicole Kidman Calls S&M Scenes in ‘Babygirl’ Liberating and Challenging

In the new film Babygirl, Nicole Kidman acts opposite Harris Dickinson in what she describes as a liberation role to depict tender S&M forces. The movie, directed by Halina Reijn, presents Kidman as a powerful CEO who has an affair with a younger intern. Kidman was effusive about the experience and spoke of the new role played by intimacy coordinators to create a comforting atmosphere on set.

Like her character, Kidman really throws herself into new creative challenges. While staying on the topics of power and vulnerability, Babygirl premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, making noise about its bold storytelling and the daring performance of Kidman.
