Gérard Depardieu’s Sexual Assault Trial Begins in Paris

October 2024- It is announced that French Cinema legend Gérard Depardieu is to go on trial in Paris based on rape and sexual assault allegations. He was sued for raping two female actresses who were filming in Les Volets Verts 2021. This will probably be one of the cases over rape allegations that comes under high profile ever sometime.

Allegations :

Depardieu was charged in 2020 with sexual assault and sexual misconduct. The case is already in the French judiciary system. The case pertains to incidents which it is alleged occurred while shooting Les Volets Verts. The women concerned state that the assaults took place during the filming of the scenes, making the case even more complicated since it has blurred lines between performance and inappropriate behavior​​.

However, Depardieu has always denied this and argued that he suffers from vindictive defamation.
