A Flight Under Fire
Jenny Mollen, author and wife of actor Jason Biggs, has sparked widespread outrage after revealing she unknowingly flew with head lice on a five-hour flight. Mollen addressed the backlash, asserting she didn’t realize she was infected until after landing.
Mollen Clears the Air
Responding to criticism on Instagram, Mollen wrote, “Who would willingly sit with lice on their head for a five-hour flight if they knew they had lice before boarding!?” She emphasized that she only discovered the lice after a post-flight head check later that night.
The controversy stems from a video Mollen posted on October 29, where she recounted realizing she had lice mid-flight. She initially mistook her persistent itching for “perimenopause symptoms.” Her friend, while on the flight, checked her scalp and confirmed the infestation.
“I have f–king lice,” Mollen exclaimed in the clip. “I think I know where I got it, but I’m not calling that person out. She knows who she is.”
A Home Infestation Revealed
Back at home, Mollen found that her entire household had been affected. Her sons, Sid, 10, and Lazlo, 7, were both infested, as was her husband, Jason Biggs—albeit minimally.
“Jason had, like, two eggs,” she quipped, before blaming him for not catching the issue earlier. “I said, ‘Do I have lice? Do you see anything?’ And he said, ‘No.’”
Mollen also shared that she used a plastic bag from the in-flight headphones to cover part of her hair, attempting to minimize exposure to others during the flight.
Public Reaction and Accountability
Critics have accused Mollen of putting fellow passengers at risk, but she maintained that she was unaware of her condition until it was too late. “The airplane seat, that’s a bummer for whoever sits there next,” she admitted. “I didn’t know I had lice until I was on the airplane.”
A Lesson in Awareness
Jenny Mollen’s unintentional in-flight lice incident highlights the importance of health awareness and communication, especially during travel. While her explanation has calmed some critics, others remain concerned about the potential risks to public health. Mollen’s candidness, however, has sparked a broader discussion about the challenges of parenting and hygiene mishaps, proving that even celebrities face everyday struggles.
